This catastrophic category 4 hurricane made landfall along the southwestern coast of Florida near Cayo Costa, south of Boca Grande. Many beautiful coastal Gulf of Mexico communities were destroyed including Ft. Myers Beach, Sanibel Island, Pine Island (which is home to Matlacha), and even flooded many Central Florida cities and towns, including Orlando. But as a 22-year Florida resident, I know we are Florida Strong and are already working hard to rebuild our sub-tropical oasis here in the Sunshine State!
