A member of the triggerfish family, the humu humu fish displays a geometric pattern of colours including tangerine, orange, yellow, blues, pearl white, and black. It is sometimes said that the Hawaiian name humuhumunukunukuapua'a is "longer than the fish." The humuhumunukunukuapua'a is the state fish of Hawaii. The species is also known as reef, rectangular, or wedge-tail triggerfish.
