Hummingbird and Passionflowers (1875–85) - A beautiful painting by Martin Johnson Heade. Although digitally restored, the cracks and fine lines are left intact on this painting to honour the time this painting emerged from.
The particular species of the hummingbird represented in this painting is the black-eared fairy (Heliothryx aurita) whose habitat is the lowlands of the Amazon basin, as is the passionflower (Passiflora racemosa). Heade, who was familiar with the scientific writings of Charles Darwin, conveys the dualities and interconnectedness between the hummingbird and the passionflowers in this painting.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
