Without a doubt red is the predominant Valentine colour. Red roses and red hearts abound on Valentines day. It is the holiday for lovers. A day set aside to recognise love and romance in our lives. This dreamland dot painting was inspired by the style developed by Australia’s aborigines. It is painted entirely with dots. The design is bold and forthright. The shades of red and pink’s a bit more subtle and sophisticated than the aborigine palette as they were limited using pigments available in the Australian outback. You might enjoy finding the letters h U G incorporated into the design. While many will consider this an image for Valentines day it is certainly appropriate for use all year round. This cute and unusual hug image is one of a new series of images inspired by the style of the Australian aborigine dreamland dot paintings which they saw and studied while travelling together in Australia in the summer of 2013. For 50 years Richard’s art has been continually evolving. During most of his early Americana work he used pens, brushes and watercolors. Today he creates his images digitally.
