Although the glory days of horses may be part of the past, these marvellous creatures continue to enthral us in all venues where they display their beauty and fascinating working ability. Horses have made a major impact on civilisation for thousands of years and in more recent times, they helped in the settlement of the United States. Today Horses are viewed more as entertainers in racing, riding stables, amusement parks, circuses, etc. There is a certain power and freedom a rider feels on top of a horse and numerous programs are offered throughout the United States for handicapped riders. These therapy horses are no less great than the horses that helped in the development of our country for they are assisting people from all lifestyles with severe physical and mental problems. Just like dogs and cats, horses are very special and like all pets, they always deserve our love and respect.
