OFI has a care centre on the island of Borneo, and OFI's founder (Dr. Birute M. Galdikas) has been working with orangutans since Dr. Louise Leakey chose her, along with Jane Goodall and the late Dian Fossey, to begin great ape research back in the 1970's.
