Hojo Scales Trucker Hat
The 'Hojo Uroko' or 'Three Scales' crest is said to have originated when Hojo Tokimasa obtained three scales from a large snake during a visit to Benzaiten on Enoshima Island, according to the Taiheiki. It is recorded in 'Nihon no Monsho' by Ito Kosaku. The three scales crest used by the Hojo family is said to be modeled after the scales of a dragon. The scale pattern is thought to have evolved from a simple scale design, and the legend was likely added to give it a mystical significance (from 'Nihon Monshogaku' by Numata Raisuke).
