HMS Pomone Off Greenwich Poster

HMS Pomone Off Greenwich Poster

HMS Pomone (1805) was a Royal Navy frigate built during the Napoleonic Wars. Launched in 1805, the ship played a prominent role in several significant naval engagements of the era. One of its noteable actions occurred in 1810 when, under the command of Captain John Richard Delap Halliday, it captured the French frigate Ville de Milan in the English Channel. The victory was a part of the ongoing conflict between Britain and France during the Napoleonic Wars. HMS Pomone continued to serve the Royal Navy with distinction, participating in various naval operations and blockades throughout the early 19th century. In 1811, HMS Pomone was sent to the Caribbean, where it played a crucial role in the capture of the French-held island of Saint Barthélemy. The frigate continued its service in the Caribbean until it was decommissioned in 1815. After being laid up in ordinary, HMS Pomone was eventually broken up in 1826, marking the end of its active naval service. HMS Pomone's legacy lives on in its contributions to British naval history during the turbulent times of the Napoleonic Wars, and it remains a noteable vessel from that era.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
