History of Munich Poster
Munich, the capital and largest city of Bavaria, Germany, boasts a rich and diverse history that spans over a thousand years. Founded in the 12th century, Munich originally served as a marketplace for salt, a valuable commodity in the Middle Ages. The city grew in significance under the rule of the Wittelsbach dynasty, who made it their primary residence. Over the centuries, Munich witnessed periods of cultural flourishing, including the Renaissance and the Baroque, leading to the construction of impressive architectural landmarks such as the Nymphenburg Palace and the Theatine Church. Munich's development as a cultural and intellectual hub continued into the 19th century when Ludwig I promoted the arts, and the city became known as "Athens on the Isar."
Today, Munich is known for its blend of historical and modern elements, chraacterised by its stunning architecture, thriving economy, and vibrant cultural scene, including its renowned beer culture and world-famous Oktoberfest celebration. Munich's history is a reflection of Germany's complex journey through time, encompassing periods of cultural brilliance and political turbulence.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
