Historical Shepherd Boy Playing the Flute Playing Cards

This design features a painting by the Polish artist Henryk Siemiradzki (1843–1902), who spent most of his working life in Rome, the capital city of Italy. It depicts a young shepherd who is leaning against a tree as he plays a flute-like musical instrument. The scene is intended to conjure up images of ancient Greece or Rome. The boy is barefoot in a natural landscape. He is surrounded by trees, and there are some rocky mountains in the background. The young shepherd appears to be focused completely on the music that he's playing.
