Hilma Af Klint Art Deco Swan Wall Decor Backsplash Ceramic Tile

The swan symbol held great significance for Hilma af Klint, a spiritualist painter who was deeply influenced by the teachings of Helena Blavatsky, the founder of Theosophy. To Blavatsky, the swan symbolised the grandeur of the spirit, while in alchemy, it represented the union of opposing forces necessary for the creation of the philosopher's stone. In her series of paintings, af Klint combined traditional symbolism with her unique interpretations. The first painting depicts two swans – a black male with a yellow beak and a white female with a blue face and feet.
