Hieronymous Bosch: Table of the mortal sins Poster

Hieronymous Bosch: Table of the mortal sins Poster

Colors restored and enhanced. Late 15th century painting by Bosch, portraying the moral sins. From the Prado: Five circles stand on a black background. The four smallest ones, in the four corners, show the final stages of life: Death, Judgement, Hell and Glory. Two scrolls with Latin verses from the Book of Deuteronomy warn of the consequences of sin. The first (32: 28-29) reads “For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them,” and the second (32: 20): “O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end.” The central circle is larger than the others and looks like an eye. In its pupil appears Christ, Man of Sorrow and the phrase “Take care, take care, God is watching.” Its outer ring shows the seven deadly sins with genre scenes depicting the customary vices of that period. From Wikipedia: Hieronymus Bosch born Jheronimus van Aken Dutch (c. 1450 – 9 August 1516), was a Dutch painter. His work is known for its use of fantastic imagery to illustrate moral and religious concepts and narratives.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
