Henry B. Pauls Homestead Ceramic Tile

Henry B Pauls was a Mennonite painter known particularly for his paintings of his home in Ukraine before he immigrated in 1923. In 1904, Pauls' father bought his ancestral home on Insel Chortitza and Henry spent his childhood there before the family was forced to relocate during WWI. This home had earlier been the home of Jakob Hoeppner, one of the Prussian Mennonite scouts who established the Mennonites in Ukraine. Henry was my great-uncle and this painting was gifted to his sister, my grandmother. I inherited it from her. Henry never took payment for his artwork; in that spirit, I am donating any profits I receive from the sale of these tiles to the Mennonite Central Committee.
