Hanoi Turtle Tower Vietnam Travel Postcard

Hanoi Turtle Tower Vietnam Travel Postcard

Turtle Tower (Tháp Rùa) is a small, iconic structure standing on a tiny islet in the middle of Hoàn Kiếm Lake, in the heart of Hanoi, Vietnam. Blending Vietnamese and French architectural influences, the tower has become a symbol of the city, steeped in legend and historical significance. Built in the late 19th century, it was originally constructed as a memorial to Lê Lợi, a national hero who, according to folklore, returned a magical sword to the Golden Turtle God (Kim Quy) in this very lake after driving out foreign invaders. This legend gives Hoàn Kiếm Lake its name, meaning “Lake of the Returned Sword.” Though modest in size, Turtle Tower holds immense cultural and emotional value for Hanoians. It is not accessible to the public, preserving its mystique and sanctity as a monument of remembrance and national pride. Surrounded by the calm, reflective waters of the lake and framed by weeping trees and historic architecture, the tower serves as a peaceful focal point amid Hanoi's vibrant Old Quarter. It’s especially enchanting at dawn and dusk, when the light casts soft reflections on the water and the tower takes on a serene, almost ethereal quality.

Way better quality than I ever expected. I love the colours, font and quality of the card. I'm so pleased I found Zazzle as it is near impossible to purchase Vintage or Retro Australian memorabilia online. I chose this design when I purchased them. They are perfect for my projects. I was very specific about what I wanted. I know where to come now when I need to order similar items.

Perfect for the occasion I was using it for. I was able to delete the lines so I could put in more wording. Had an envelope so the address side wasn't necessary. Print quality and paper quality lovely.
