Hand Powered Sewing Machine Journal
Hand powered sewing machines could be found in almost every house at one time. Sewing skills were passed down from mother to daughter for generations. Today the sewing machine may be housed in a sewing room and the seamstress happily making gifts, clothing and perhaps quilts. The hand powered sewing machine has earned its place in Americana. As a boy I can remember listening to the soft clickety click of the hand powered sewing machine as my grandmother was sewing and I played on the floor. But hand powered sewing machines were not exclusive to the woman of the house. Dressmakers, tailors, seamstresses, couturiers and clothing manufacturers also used hand powered sewing machines. It is true most hand powered sewing machines in the home found its user to be a seamstress or dressmaker rather than a male tailor. However, sewing machines are a prized piece of Americana because the hand powered sewing machine was a part of so many lives of both men and women. From seamstress and dressmaker to tailor and couturier, sewing clothing to stitching quilts, the hand powered sewing machine is a part of countless wonderful memories for many. Perhaps this is why the hand powered sewing machine is a favourite image frequently seen as wall decor in sewing rooms today. This hand powered sewing machine image is part of a collection of best seller images of Americana art belonging to an on going series of images of farms, sewing machines, outhouses, schoolhouses, churches, barns, birds, lighthouses plus Amish landscapes, buggies, and buildings created by Richard Neuman in his rural studio near McComb, Ohio. For 50 years Richard’s art has been continually evolving. During most of his early Americana work he used pens, brushes and watercolors. Each barn painting in this farm art series was created this way. Today he creates the images in these series using a computer. Richard has recently converted the Americana originals into digitised art of very high quality. In his studio many steps using Photoshop and several other computer art programs are blended together with fifty years of art experience to create this hand powered sewing machine image for you as a seamstress, tailor, couturier, dressmaker or quilter to enjoy in your sewing room or sewing business.

It is a very small note pad/book that you purchase from the newsagent and a cover (design) was printed for it. This is apparent as the cover was bent in an odd spot that suggests the damage mark is related to printing, rather than damage through shipping. It is also very small- the image and the wording suggest it is a journal. This definitely is NOT of adequate size to be a journal- it was rather disappointing to receive what I would deem a $5 product in value. fair- as per above- there was a bend in the cover, which appears to be related tot he printing.

I love it! It is very durable and I doubt it'll rip any time soon. Excellent quality. This looks exactly as it should. Very vibrant! My cousin's photography shines on this little sketchbook.
