Hamsa-Chai with home blessing Poster
The Hamsa hand (Arabic) or hamesh hand (Hebrew) is an old and popular amulet for magical protection from the envious and brings good luck and happiness. It shaped like a hand, with three extended fingers in the middle and a curved thumb or pinky finger on either side. Many hamsas will have an eye displayed in the palm of the hand. The eye is thought to be a powerful talisman against the “evil eye.” Other symbols that appear on the hamsa include fish and Hebrew words. Fish are thought to be immune to the evil eye and are also symbols of good luck, fertility and prosperity. Going along with the luck theme, the word “CHAI” – meaning for a long life in Hebrew. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
