Guy Fawkes: Rebellion Gunpowder Plot & Treason Poster

Guy Fawkes: Rebellion Gunpowder Plot & Treason Poster

In the shadows of 17th century London, a spark ignited a rebellion against the tyranny of the Crown. Guy Fawkes, a man of unwavering faith and unyielding spirit, led a band of conspirators in a desperate bid to overthrow the oppressive regime and restore the rightful place of the Catholic Church. - Their plan was as audacious as it was dangerous: to detonate a massive cache of gunpowder beneath the House of Lords, obliterating the King, his ministers, and the corrupt Parliament in a single, cataclysmic explosion. The conspirators, driven by a burning desire for justice and a longing for religious freedom, meticulously laid their plans, drilling through the thick stone walls and concealing barrels of gunpowder beneath the foundations of the very building that symbolized their oppression. - As the day of reckoning approached, a twist of fate intervened. An anonymous letter warned a member of the House of Lords, alerting the authorities to the impending doom. In the dead of night, soldiers stormed the Parliament building, discovering Fawkes guarding the explosive cache. The plot was foiled, but the spirit of defiance it ignited would forever echo through the annals of history. - Fawkes and his fellow conspirators were arrested, tortured, and executed, their bodies dismembered and displayed as a chilling warning to any who dared to challenge the Crown. Yet, their sacrifice did not go in vain. The Gunpowder Plot, though unsuccessful, became a symbol of resistance against tyranny and a rallying cry for those who yearned for a more just and equitable society. - In the centuries that followed, the memory of Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators would inspire generations of revolutionaries, from the American Founding Fathers to the Suffragettes, who fought for liberty and equality in the face of oppression. Their legacy lives on, a testament to the enduring power of the human spirit to defy injustice and strive for a better future. - An Original Poem - Beneath the shadows, a spark ignites, A flame of hope, a beacon's light. A band of rebels, bold and true, Defying tyrants, through and through. - A plot is hatched, a daring scheme, To shatter chains, a noble dream. A powder's power, a silent threat, To shake the foundations, a deadly debt. - But fate intervenes, a twist of chance, The plot is foiled, a bitter trance. Yet, in their hearts, a fire still burns, A legacy etched, a lesson learned. - For in the darkness, a light may shine, A spark of hope, a divine sign. Though silenced now, their spirit's strong, A timeless echo, a righteous song. - This work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 100 years or fewer.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
