The Europe Bridge (Le Pont de l'Europe), painted by Gustave Caillebotte in 1876, shows a fashionable couple, a worker and a dog crossing the iron Pont de l'Europe above the railway tracks beside Paris's Gare Saint-Lazare. The strong diagonals of the steel structure and sharply receding city view turn modern Paris into a dramatic urban scene. This oil on canvas belongs to the collection of the Musée du Petit Palais in Geneva.
