The Greek island of Santorini, in the Aegean sea, and officially named Thera, lies at the border of a volcanic caldera of the same name. Volcanic activity has been quiet since the 1500s, allowing for the development of an island now known for its beautiful iconic white cubic houses and coral colour buildings and blue roofs (all colours coming from naturally occurring volcanic ashes and stones!), along with luscious flowering bushes and deep blue beaches at the foot of gorgeous green cliffs. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
