Great Spangled Fritillary Case-Mate iPhone Case Playing Cards

This design was created with reference to the 'Japanese Crest Large Illustrated Book' and the 'Ageha Cho Crest Division Diagram and Training Text' contained within the 'Kyoto Crest Uwa-e-shi' (March 28, 2013). The term 'Fushicho' refers to a state where the wings are held horizontally, whereas 'Agehacho' refers to a state where the wings are raised. The 'Agehacho' that appears in family crests is not generally the same as the swallowtail butterfly. It was surprising to learn that the 'Agehacho' in patterns and the biological swallowtail butterfly are different. It was also surprising to discover that the name of the pattern is distinguished by whether the wings are raised or lowered. (From 'Exploring Family Crests' by Keiichi Morimoto)
