Great Piece of Turf (by Albrecht Dürer) Ceramic Tile

This design features a watercolor painting by Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528), who was an artist, printmaker and theorist of the German Renaissance. It is a study of a seemingly unextraordinary and unordered group of wild plants, including cock's-foot, creeping bent, smooth meadow-grass, daisy, dandelion, germander speedwell, greater plantain, hound's-tongue and yarrow. Dürer brings out the beauty in even the simplest aspect of nature. The work is widely considered to be one of the great masterpieces of Dürer's realistic nature studies. The German title of the painting is "Das große Rasenstück", meaning "The Great Piece of Turf", and the artwork was completed in 1503.
