Good Reading Ahead WPA Poster

Adaptation of the 1938 WPA (Work Projects Administration) public service announcement poster promoting reading. The WPA put out many public service announcement posters in the 1930's. This one was probably intended to hang in a school library. It shows a child pulling a sled full of books back home, presumably after visiting the library. I have changed the colours slightly. The original had dark green where I substituted dark blue and the sky was darker.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
