Early esoteric illuminated manuscript from mediaeval England, the Ripley Scroll is filled with ornate drawings of gold dragons, glowing stars and other symbols about the stages in the process of alchemy. The images come from a variety of sources including heraldry, emblem books and other ancient manuscripts.
