Glastonbury Tor - Gothic Avalon T-Shirt

Glastonbury Tor was truly a remarkable place to visit! I'm told the legends of that great hill in Somerset are numerous, but probably the most well known one is that this great hill is the mystical Avalon from the legends of King Arthur. Sure enough in times long past, the great tor used to be an island in a marshy landscape. This was before the farmer's drained the fields. The tower on the top, St. Michael's Tower, is of late mediaeval pedigree but unrelated to the Arthurian Legends. It's all that remains of a church that once stood there, but it creates a truly Gothic feeling looming there doesn't it? Glastonbury Tor featured heavily in the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympic opening ceremonies. It was also seen very briefly in the conclusion to the recent BBC series, Merlin.
