Giuseppe Arcimboldo’s baroque masterpiece “The Librarian”. Giuseppe Arcimboldo was an Italian painter from Milan. He is best known for his fantastic, sometimes grotesque, portraits made from such everyday objects as plants, animals and inanimate objects. He came from a artistic family and did design work for stain glass windows, tapestries, and frescos before he became portraitist in 1562 to the Hapsburg court in Vienna. He was also the court decorator and costume designer.
