I've been a working artist for over thirty years. I started out doing whimsical folk sculpture, I've done freelance design for the home decor and gift market, I dabbled in photography for a while, have created coloring books for adults and now I've come back to my roots, not just with starting to do wood sculpture again but also to my first loves, drawing and painting. Most of my work is done in pen and ink before I add color using various mediums. I decided that I needed a new name for my business since neither, S. Elkins, Folk Art or Gray Horse Designs, totally described all I was doing. So, for my pen and ink and colored illustrations, I decided on Ginny Pearl Studios which is named after my sweet mother, Virginia, who passed away 28 years ago...and I still miss her.
