Georges Seurat - Circus Sideshow Apron

Circus Sideshow (Parade de cirque), painted by Georges Seurat in 1887–1888, depicts a ringmaster and musicians performing beneath gaslights outside the Cirque Corvi in Paris as spectators gather below. Seurat's Pointillist colour and strict geometry give this nocturnal scene of popular entertainment a mysterious stillness. This oil on canvas is held by The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
