From an authentic glass magic lantern slide in the private collection of Scenesfromthepast.net. The original portrait was by John Trumbull (June 6, 1756 – November 10, 1843), who was an American artist during the period of the American Revolutionary War and was noteable for his historical paintings. His Declaration of Independence was used on the reverse of the two-dollar bill.
