This 19th century US Military History artwork by Henry Alexander Ogden features a scene from the Battle of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania, wherein General Pickett is depicted taking orders from General Longstreet to charge on the Union soldiers. The battle has often been described as the turning point in the war because in addition to having the largest number of casualties, it also halted the northward progress of Confederate soldiers.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
