Geneaology Keychain

This orginal watercolour of a Border Reiver is inspired by the statue located in Carlisle England. The Reiver families were Scots and English families living in the border lands of England and Scotland during the 13th and 17th centuries. Armstrongs, Elliots, Grahams, Johnstones, Nixons, Scotts, Bells, Forsters, Kerrs were among the famous family names. The Reivers were notorious for raiding and cattle rustling with no particular allegiance to Scotland or England. Famed and skilled warriors they rode a hardy pony known as a 'bog trotter' or 'nag' and were typified by the long spear or 'lang spear they used pictured here.
