Ia Orana Maria (We Hail Thee Mary) is a colourful Madonna work from the artist’s first Tahitian period. Mary is depicted as a Tahitian woman wearing a red sarong with white flowers as the baby Jesus sits serenely on her shoulder, both mother and sun are adorned with gold halos. Two worshippers stand nearby with an angel in a pink dress and blue and yellow wings bowing behind them. Colourful red and green tropical fruit sits on the table in the foreground. I was a bit disappointed to find that for the price the puzzle was only a small 252 pieces ..... but ....... it is so intricate that if it was bigger I would be frazzled by now
bought as a special Christmas jigsaw for work colleagues to play with in our breaks - it is a great way to get the team to collaborate on something fun, and to start conversations between folk, and a great positive opportunity to provide compliments on the effort put in and progress being made
the puzzle itself is beautifully made - each piece feels lovely (not a cheap cardboard puzzle) and the shapes are all similar but different
Still a work in progress after a week - it's great!!!!
a truly lovely thing ... it will come out each year - both at work and at home. great image, and fantastic finish on the pieces
