Garden at Giverny

This lush garden was painted by John Leslie Breck, an American artist credited with introducing Impressionism to the United States. His father was a United States naval officer, and Breck was born in 1860 aboard his father’s clipper ship, off of the coast of Hong Kong. He studied painting in Europe and the United States, and while in France befriended Claude Monet, who deeply influenced his style of painting. This beautiful garden with its vibrant, rich colours was created over the period 1887-1891. (The design you see on the inside of this card is a beautiful white floral jacquard fabric pattern.)
