Freer Future Not A Golden Age Bumper Sticker

I'm a libertarian because I want a freer future for all, not a return to some Golden Age that never was. Liberty-lovers often get confused with yesteryear-yearners and geezer-conservatives, who look at the past as a template to recreate the future. Of course, for some small slivers of the human demographic with patrician blood or impressive wealth and privilege, the past was a majestic time of wonder and prosperity, but for most it was just as much filled with struggle, prejudice, poverty, and injustice as anything. The remarkable story of human liberty is that wherever present, it lifts all people; and the future is much brighter than any past. The Golden Age, if we choose, lies ahead for everyone, and only gets more golden.
