I'm a diagnosable Aspie - a person who has a set of traits described as Asperger's Syndrome, an Autistic Spectrum condition. I consider myself lucky - even though my childhood was seven kinds of hell, it wasn't the sort of hell that COULD have happened to me if my parents had heard about some of the really horrible ideas people have about "fixing" aspies and autistic kids.
