National flag of France The French national flag is a triband flag with vertical stripes in red, white and blue, and a 2:3 ratio. It is commonly known as the Tricolour (Tricolore in French), and was adopted in 1794. Note that any distortion in the preview image is caused by compression artefacts, and won't be printed.
