【いとわによついなづま】稲妻紋 稲妻とは雷、電(いなづま)の意。稲のことをスズキとよんだのは鈴なりの木だという予祝的な語。・・鈴なりに成ってほしい素朴な願望は、大地を母体とみて、稲穂の実には孕ませる夫(つま)が必要となった。天神が通い夫(つま)と見立てられた。つまり、電光によって夫(つま)は稲穂に通い、穂を鈴なりに稔らせるというのである。八月の盆すぎから九月中頃にかけて稲妻の光る年は豊年といういい伝えがある(能坂利雄著「日本家紋総覧」)
