    Fort Bridger, Mormon Pioneer Trail, Wyoming Magnet

    Fort Bridger was a fur trading post in the southeastern corner of Wyoming established by mountain man and explorerJim Bridger in 1843. When emigrants on the Oregon Trail and the California Trail reached this fort, they turned north while those on the Mormon Pioneer Trail turned south. It also served as a Pony Express, telegraph and stagecoach stop. In 1857 it became a United States Army fort and continued until 1890.
