This flat card (with or without an envelope) has the modified "Hippocratic Oath" called the Florence Nightingale Pledge in honour of her - the founder of modern nursing. It was composed in 1893 by Lystra E. Gretter and a Committee for the Farrand Training School for Nurses, Detroit. It is often recited at graduation for nurses and included in programs honouring nurses during Nurses Day (May 6) and Nurses Week (May 6-12). May 12 is Florence Nightingale's birth date.
