Floating Hanabishi

Floating Hanabishi is a crest pattern. In the NHK morning drama 'Asa ga Kita' this morning (November 18, 2015), this floating Hanabishi was drawn on the curtain near 'Kanoya', Asa's bride's destination, so I quickly drew a diagram. In heraldry, a butterfly with its wings spread out flat and symmetrical is called a 'lying butterfly' or 'floating butterfly', and this shape is called 'Floating Hanabishi' when it is made to resemble a butterfly with a Hanabishi. / 'Floating twill' refers to the twill of a floating weave in which the threads are woven. Simply calling it 'floating twill' does not refer to a specific pattern. However, in later years, 'butterfly floating twill' became widespread, and 'floating twill' came to refer to a butterfly-shaped floating twill, and eventually 'floating twill' became the same as a 'lying butterfly', and was recognized as its alternative name.
