Flag of Toledo, Ohio Shot Glass

Designed by local artist Mark Yappueying, the new Toledo flag is a masterful blend of history, geography, and community spirit. The design is built upon horizontal bands: dark blue represents the city’s industrial legacy and ingenuity, while light blue signifies the vital water resources of the Maumee River and Lake Erie. A prominent white band through the center symbolizes the unification and perseverance of all Toledoans. At the heart of the flag is a modernized blockhouse—a nod to the historic Fort Industry—shaped like a "T" for Toledo. Its angled base is inspired by a flint arrowhead, honoring the region's Indigenous heritage. In the upper-hoist corner, a red sunburst rises over the horizon. Its four points represent the cardinal directions and the Native American medicine wheel, marking Toledo’s status as a vital crossroads of midwestern commerce.
