This design features the city flag of Little Rock, which is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Arkansas. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. Little Rock is located on the south bank of the Arkansas River close to the state's geographic centre. The city derived its name from a rock formation along the river, which was named the "Little Rock" by a French explorer in the 1720s. The western part of Little Rock is in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains. To the northwest of the city limits are Pinnacle Mountain and Lake Maumelle, which provides Little Rock's drinking water.
