Five Gourd Crest with Manji Symbol Tie
The family crest of Yoshida Shoin (Drawn on 2013/5/6). Shoin tried to stow away on Perry's second expedition to Shimoda and got caught. When an American officer asked him his name, he allegedly gave the alias 'Urinaka Manji'. This is a play on the colloquial name 'Manji within a Gourd' for this crest design, referring to Shoin's family crest (Reference: '100 Stories of Family Crests (Part 2)' by Niwa Kaji). There are various theories about his alias, with other possibilities being Kanouchi Manji and Kuwanou Manji.

I originally ordered 1 tie to test and ensure I liked it with the suits we had ordered! The tie came and it was perfect! We loved it! The colours were bright and the tie was beautifully made. I then ordered the 6 additional ties and the colours are slightly different. The 6 ties were a little less vibrant and the white background was slightly different!
