Ferndockle was found, and rescued, while he was barely hanging on, as Fall closed into his Appalachian forest home. BUT there was a breath of life in him yet, and he was rescued by an artist to live on in another life form: art! He tried to breathe while paint washed him clean, and here he is - alive again and playing cards, perhaps with Creepy Vinny? Who knows? He's alive in his second life form.
