Falls Of Clyde Ceramic Tile

The Falls of Clyde is a ship that is now a museum ship in Honolulu. It is the last surviving iron-hulled, four-masted, full-rigged ship and the only remaining sail-driven oil tanker. The Falls of Clyde was built in 1878 by Russell and Company in Port Glasgow, Scotland. It was named after a series of waterfalls on the River Clyde. The ship was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1989. It is currently not open to the public because its condition has deteriorated. The state withdrew a proposal to move the ship to Scotland because the nonprofit was unable to secure a performance bond, which was estimated to cost at least $3.5 million.
