Exploding Cosmos Art Glass - Van Gogh Orange Sun Holiday Card

When I started taking pictures of my large collection of vintage mercury glass Christmas ornaments I realised that the beauty of the colours and details are often lost when seen on the tree. The glass blowers of old were so skilled, unlike contemporary mercury glass, which is thick and clunky, the genuine old beauties are light as air - it's a miracle they've survived. Even the colours they chose were richer and more like little jewels. I've collected vintage mercury glass Christmas ornaments for many years and they are becoming very very scarce. So I thought it would be a wonderful experience to share them with you on these cards, up close, as you have perhaps never seen them. With this art glass ornament I am showcasing the wonderful indent. The vivid orange, an unusual colour choice, is surrounded by deep blue and purple. I was reminded of space and so I have named it 'Cosmos'. This ornament most likely is from pre-war Germany or Austria.
