The breed is divided into four varieties based on colour: Blenheim (rich mahogany red and white); ruby (rich mahogany red); Prince Charles (white with black & tan markings); and King Charles (black and tan). All need frequent combing and brushing. The English Toy Spaniel is a part of the AKC Toy Group and was first recognised by the AKC in 1886.
