Endangered Yellow Eyed Penguin Notebook
This endangered yellow-eyed penguin is one of only three species of New Zealand Penguins. This one was spotted near Katiki Point Lighthouse (also called Moeraki Lighthouse). It is only found on the southeastern coast of the South Island and three nearby smaller islands: Stewart Island, Auckland Islands, and Campbell Island. They are a declining population due to climate change and other factors.
