End of Time December 21, 2012 Party Invitation! This design is based upon the ancient Mayan calendar, which dates back to the 5th Century BC and possibly earlier. This is a prophetic calendar which is more about the flow of creation than it is about time. Nonetheless, this calendar ends in the year 2012 and the world is taking note. This actual date is December 21st, 2012 and it's the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in Mayan Cosmology. Many people believe this predicts the end of the world. They say our planet will be hit by an asteroid bigger than our planet and time will cease to exist. To others, this important artefact of the ancient Maya peoples ending in 2012 marks an end of an age and the beginning of a new cycle of life. On a more humourous note, I've seen two comics about this Mayan calendar suggesting the artist/stone carver simply ran out of room when they reached the year 2012.
