As an industry, the use of ethanol is mandated by law, protected by tariffs, and companies are paid by the federal government to use it. To support a policy that increases the cost of energy and food, with knowledge that the United States of America has an extraordinary supply of untapped energy resources, borders on irrational. The ethanol subsidy and tariff is bad economic policy, bad energy policy and bad environmental policy. Support a free market.
