Elaborate Knot Pattern (by Albrecht Dürer) Stone Coaster

This design is based on a pattern from Albrecht Dürer's series of six knots, which were elaborate patterns originally intended for embroidery that were direct copies of Italian engravings. Albrecht Dürer (sometimes spelled in English as Durer or Duerer) was a German painter, printmaker and theorist of the German Renaissance; he was born in the city of Nuremberg (Nürnberg) in 1471 and soon established a reputation across Europe for the high quality of his woodcut prints. The original pattern was created at the beginning of the 16th century and it is currently housed in the British Museum.
